Name: KJN Shane Myler
Belt Degree: 8th Degree Black Belt
Years Experience: 0
My mother was attacked and injured in 1987 while we were living in Texas. She decided that she wanted her children to have the skills and confidence to defend themselves. This is when my martial arts journey began. I enjoyed many other sports but none had such a positive impact on my life like martial arts. I earned my 1st degree black belt in taekwondo at age 12 while training under KJN Young Woo Kim. Over the years I competed in and won many state and national championships. At the age of 19 I became the head instructor at Kim’s academy in Sandy Utah. Four years later I accomplished my childhood dream and became the owner and master instructor of Kim’s academy in Midvale Utah. This is the same school where I spent my youth training to earn a Black Belt.
In 2003, I opened a new Martial Arts school in West Jordan Utah. Soon after I began to incorporate various techniques from other martial arts styles. Although I had studied styles besides Taekwondo, this was the first time that I had incorporated those styles into the core curriculum. My goal was to teach the best and most effective parts of martial arts systems from all around the world. I found this to be is no small goal, and would require years of training and a massive amount of dedication.
In 2006 I made the decision that to truly be challenged I must incorporate martial arts skills from multiple styles into my 5th degree mastery test. As fate would have it, while attending the Martial Arts super Show in Las Vegas, I met world renowned Grand Master Ernie Reyes. Sr. KJN Ernie Reyes also has a base in Taekwondo and is famous for being an innovator in the martial arts. In October of 2006 I promoted to 5th degree black belt in front of the largest panel of master instructors that had ever been assembled in Utah. Most notable among the judge’s panel included my taekwondo master, KJN Young Woo Kim, KJN Royal West, and our West Coast World Martial Arts association leader, KJN Ernie Reyes Sr.In 2012 the WCWMA held a Legendary Mastery test! Over 500 black belt and mastery testers came from all over the United States. Even KJNs Ernie Reyes, and Tony Thompson would be testing to promote to 8th degree at this rare and special event. For years my Utah team and I had been preparing for this mastery challenge. The Mastery curriculum had evolved over the years and had reached a pinnacle of quality and quantity that proved to be a great challenge! My dedication to Mastery had paid off at this Mastery test when I was awarded the championship belt for best mastery tester. The test is not over! Mastery is not a one-stop destination. We must always strive for Mastery. Train to last! Join the journey and be a part of the next chapter!

KJN Daymion has been training since 2003, as one of the first students at this location when he was only nine years old. He began helping teach classes at a young age around 2006 and began Head Instructing small classes as a teenager. Now, he is now just short of 20 years of martial arts experience and at least 10 years of teaching experience. Some day he would like to be well known for something unique he's achieved and contributed to martial arts. He also enjoys snowboarding, video games, movies, learning, the outdoors, and active things of all kinds.
